Let’s Pray For Piers Morgan, Everybody

thThat’s probably what mega-church founder Rick Warren would want me to say after CNN’s top entry in the Moron of the Year Pageant once again proved himself an insufferable pric… er, prig.

Big Journalism:

Piers Morgan has done it again, this time saying that both the Bible and the U.S. Constitution are “inherently flawed” and need new “amendments.”

During Morgan’s Monday, December 24 broadcast of his cable spectacle, CNN’s British import once again attacked America’s most deeply held principles by slaming both the Constitution and the Bible.

Morgan was interviewing Saddleback Church Pastor Rick Warren when he essentially went for the throat.

“Both the Bible and the Constitution were well intentioned, but they are basically, inherently flawed. Hence, the need to amend it. My point to you about gay rights, for example, it’s time for an amendment to the bible,” the CNN host said.

There’s more.

Hot Air:

And not just the Bible, but Piers Morgan wants to amend the Constitution, too. It’s a darn good thing that the CNN host needed work badly enough to emigrate to a place that he finds so disagreeable.  What did we ever do without him? [Video]

I have no issue with the concept of amending the Constitution — and neither did the founders, who accepted that it might prove flawed for later use.  That’s why they included the mechanisms for amending the foundational document of American law within it, mechanisms that have been used 17 times since the original passage of the Constitution.  We have even had one amendment repeal another (the 21st Amendment repealed the 18th).  If Morgan wants to press for an amendment repealing the Second Amendment in whole or in part, he just needs to convince two-thirds of both the House and Senate to pass it, and then get three-quarters of the states to ratify it. Have fun storming the castle!

His insistence on amending the Bible amuses more than it shocks, because it’s impossible to take Morgan seriously.  He’s needling Rick Warren, nothing more, and attempting to provoke him into a heated exchange. Warren is simply smarter than Morgan, and takes a pass.

If Morgan was serious, then it’s still less offensive than humorous, but the joke is on Morgan.  If you believe that the Bible is the unerring word of God, then you know that it’s absurd to suggest that it be “amended” based on the latest human fashion, which is what Warren explains.  God is, after all, unchangeable — or He wouldn’t be God at all. It would be equally absurd to think that anyone would base their faith on the amended product, a Gospel According To Piers, if you will, unless people decided that Piers is either God Himself or a new prophet, in which case he’d probably have a better gig.

And if you don’t think that the Bible is the unerring word of God … why would you care what’s in it at all?

Dear God. Please forgive Piers Morgan for his arrogant, uninformed, faithless, godless, self-centered, narcissistic, anti-American, blasphemous tongue and make him a new person in your beloved Son….

Or just turn him into an over-toasted English muffin… Using your own omniscient judgment, of course.

Senator Dianne Feinstein makes a point to Judge Samuel Alito in WashingtonVia Drudge: These are the hot points in Dianne Feinstein’s antigun legislation coming up in January in the Senate. Lock and load people; this is going to get messy.

Stopping the spread of deadly assault weapons

Stay informed

In January, Senator Feinstein will introduce a bill to stop the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devises. (Er, we think she means devices).

Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test

Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment

Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and

Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons

Background check of owner and any transferee;

Type and serial number of the firearm;

Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;

Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and

Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

No word on whether or not Feinstein intends to ban Eric Holder. A self-described moderate, Feinstein is one of the most liberal members of the Senate, and California just reelected her! The nutcakes are out in force drumming this piece of crap legislation. Write, email, Fax, call your RINO and warn him/her that this will matter in 2014.

Ed Asner Goes Wee-Wee on Taxpayers

In+Profile+Ed+Asner+9rpE4d8ZrgZlThe plight of struggling teachers makes news this week. The California Federation of Teachers executive staff (all of whom make over $150,000 annually) is trashing upper-income taxpayers (who pay 70% of teachers’ salaries) for ‘relieving’ themselves on the poor.

CNBC:

The fiscal cliff negotiations have ramped up the rhetoric over the American rich. The latest salvo comes courtesy of Ed Asner and the California Federation of Teachers.

Asner does the voice for an animated short film called “Tax the Rich: An Animated Fairy Tale,” that was posted on the CFT website yesterday and is quickly becoming lighting up the web.

The video uses humor to tell the story of how the rich have gotten richer in America and – it says – helped ruin the country by cutting their own taxes, buying politicians and shipping jobs overseas. But one particular highlight has set a low (or high, depending on your politics) in the class war.

In the segment, a cartoon rich guy with piles of money urinates on the “ordinary people” as an illustration of how trickle-down-economics really works.

“When ordinary people wondered why rich people needed so much money,” says Asner, the narrator, “the One Percent said, ‘Don’t worry. This is good for you too. Because it will trickle down from us to you. Someday you’ll be rich too and the rules we made for us will be your rules too.’”

When you’ve spent the larger part of your adult life riding in limousines and eating at the finest restaurants and have a minimum-wage Guatemalan maid in your house you can effectively call your maid, then you can make PSAs about the greed of the wealthy with some authority.

The average California teacher, by the way, makes about $68,000 for 8-months work, while paying their deadbeat union reps more than twice that amount for spending their dues money on this tripe. Here’s a far better idea for you educators: Run for union representative.

Back to Ed Asner. What a barfbag. With all due respect, of course.
