For weeks the conservative media have speculated about rumors of an October surprise by Team Obama to derail the Romney campaign’s chances of acing Obama out of a second term. Until now the focus has been on some kind of sleazy Gloria Allred stunt ala Herman Cain.
The real surprise surfaces tonight in the form of a behind-the-scenes deal between Obama and Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to a story breaking in the New York Times tonight, the Obama administration has agreed to another round of talks with the terrorist state in effort to ramp back Iran’s enrichment program. How absolutely convenient, three weeks before the election.
But World Net Daily says that Obama has already cut a deal.
Iranian and U.S. negotiators have reached an agreement that calls for Iran to halt part of its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of many of the U.S. sanctions against the Islamic regime, according to a highly placed source.
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expects a letter from President Obama in a few days guaranteeing the details of the agreement, arrived at recently during secret negotiations in Doha, Qatar.
The source, who remains anonymous for security reasons and is highly placed in Iran’s regime, said that once Khamenei receives Obama’s guarantees, he will authorize an announcement by Iran on a solution to the nuclear crisis before the U.S. presidential elections.
The question is not whether or not the report is accurate; the question is just which of our cojones has Barack agreed to give Iran in order to get the deal. Would he sell out the U.S. for a short-term slowdown of Iran’s nuclear ambitions? Uh, yes he would.
Iran has been playing in U.S. elections since the late-1970s and it is a sure thing that the terrorist state would much rather deal with Barack Obama than Mitt Romney as it moves to the final phases of arming itself with a nuke.
The White House is already out today denying any talks agreement with Iran, much less a deal, because to admit it this early takes away a bin Laden-style victory lap for the President. And the problem with any Obama-cut deal with Iran is that it will be strictly political and will vanish almost immediately after the election.
A senior administration official told NBC on Saturday that there have been backchannel talks between the U.S. and Iran about meeting bilaterally on the Iranians’ nuclear program – but that no meeting has been agreed to.
Expanding on a statement issued by the White House after The New York Times reported that there was an agreement, the official says that the backchannel talks have been done in full consultation with the allies – the P5 + 1 and Israel.
The official pointed out that there have been bilateral talks in the past – but that Iran refused to even meet with the P5 +1 during the recent United Nations meetings. He said the Iranians know there will be no agreement unless they give up their nuclear program.
Asked about the impact on Monday’s foreign policy debate between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney, the official said the administration is not happy that the story came out before the debate, but said the American people might be happy to know the administration is willing to explore all possibilities to get Iran to give up its nuclear program.
Whew, what a relief! Andrea Mitchell says it ain’t so, but isn’t it great Barack’s on the job. We could just about believe it, if Andrea’s lips weren’t moving.

Here’s our two cents.
If the story is true, the MSM will attempt a ‘white out’ of news on jobs and the economy. All ready they are working hard to distance Obama from Benghazi-gate and paint his Libya disaster as a mere slip up between the CIA and State Department.
If Romney comes on strong, Obama is cooked on Benghazi; he lied to the American people and the fact is not lost on voters. However, Romney should be careful not to be distracted by foreign policy straw men. Although the recent press on Benghazi has raised public awareness most voters are far more concerned about jobs.
We believe Mitt Romney needs to keep hammering on the economy. He will have to comment on this if it comes up in Monday’s debate but he should make it brief and presidential. Something like, They better be talking because I’m going to turn the place into a parking lot before I’ll let them get a bomb. Just kidding. But even in the foreign policy debate, Romney should use every opportunity to drive home his economic policy.
Meanwhile, check the family jewels before bed tonight. Barack is about to give them away.
