John Boehner says — and this will come as a surprise in Burkina Faso — he’s finished doing one-on-one, face-to-face deals with the Prince of Darkness. This after holding up the one finger he has left to take the oath of office. Duh! What was your first clue, John? The guy’s been trying to drive a stake through your heart for two years.
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is signaling that at least one thing will change about his leadership during the 113th Congress: he’s telling Republicans he is done with private, one-on-one negotiations with President Obama.
During both 2011 and 2012, the Speaker spent weeks shuttling between the Capitol and the White House for meetings with the president in hope of striking a grand bargain on the deficit.
Those efforts ended in failure, leaving Boehner feeling burned by Obama and, at times, isolated within his conference.
Boehner squeezed in on a first ballot with only nine votes defecting, and those mainly symbolically.
Please! Even Mitt Romney (speaking of weenies) mopped the floor with him in the first debate…. And he does the worst poor Southern Negro dialect in history. Which is saying something after seeing Hillary Clinton’s act in 2008.
Now the arch triumphalist (translate: arrogant a**h***) is saying he will not negotiate on the debt ceiling, and the thing is you have to believe him. If Boehner were in the joint he’d be somebody’s sissy, first night. Some guy named Tyrone, with a 24-inch neck.
Under the Constitution of the United States, the House of Representatives has the power of the purse strings. It is Congress that decides whether or not to incur more debt, not the president. And yet Obama has essentially stated that he will not stand for any negotiation surrounding that Congressional power.
That’s tyrannical. But unlike in the past, the Democrats in Congress are willing to go along with such systemic perversion. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has shown himself quite willing to give Obama unlimited power to raise the debt ceiling.
The House Republicans will have to stand together on the debt ceiling, and that will require Boehner getting over to the right side of the aisle where he belongs. Boehner and House Republicans can hang this guy’s cojones on their coup stick, if they’ll just recognize that Obama isn’t playing politics as usual.
In the past we have been reluctant to embrace the idea that Obama wants to purposely collapse the economy, but what else are we to think? This man is not stupid; he knows the nation cannot sustain this level of debt by raising taxes and failing to tackle entitlement spending.
The first thing to understand is that Obama is not trying to sculpt a legacy in his second term; at least not in the traditional sense that previous president have. Obama doesn’t give a sh** about what we think. He wants to move the Capitol to Oslo.
Harry Reid won’t even take up the budgets Obama sends up to the Senate; Democrats wouldn’t pass them. And the president knows that.
This man grew up with a bitter hatred for the United States, and now he’s in a position to do something about it. Stand up to him and damned what the New York Times and CNN say about it. Get the freaking message right, guys!
