We all jumped up and down and applauded when states began to crack down on drunk drivers. A good thing, getting those lushes off the roads, right?
Then local municipalities, counties and even state law enforcement agencies began to “presume” that a certain percentage of citizens would be under the influence on certain occasions. So they instituted sobriety checkpoints on holidays and even weekends.
Never mind it flies in the face of the Fourth Amendment said conservative Chief Justice William Rehnquist; checkpoints are only a “minor infraction” of the Constitution and serve the greater good of society.
Now we have a president and attorney general who presume that every law abiding American with a semi-automatic hunting or target rifle or more than 10 cartridges in his or her semi-automatic handgun is a threat to that greater good.
Attorney General Eric Holder spoke at the U.S. Conference of Mayors Friday and said the following (numbers are mine):

This means (5) doing everything that we can to secure the tools and resources we need to keep guns out of the hands who are not and should not be allowed to possess them. [Read more]
Seize on a crisis or tragedy; fold in showboating, potentially dangerous liberal politicians, stir in a biased, dishonest media with hefty portion of public idiocy and naïveté, and mix well with ordinances, regulations, and new laws.
Voila! We’re Russia.
The federal government initiated two raids on the Gibson Guitar factory, seizing tone woods allegedly illegally imported from India; the wood was legal.
C.F. Martin Guitars was using the same wood, except C.F. Martin III is an Obama supporter; Gibson is a Republican-owned company. Charges were never brought against Gibson and the wood has not been returned.
Just how can any American believe this president can be trusted with their right to bear arms?
