Menendez: Guns For Syria, No Gun’s For You!

menendez.jpeg-e1363635215520-1280x960Let me get this straight. New Jersey Senator BobThe Hotties Love Me In The DRMenendez trusts al Qaeda Syrians with guns, but not U.S. citizens? Menendez, most recently known for his Vacation in Sunny Dominican Republic promotions, has authored a bill to arm and train “vetted” Syrian rebels with U.S. guns against dictator Assad.

The Hill:

Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) on Monday introduced a bill that would provide arms to vetted rebel groups.

Menendez’s legislation would give arms and military training to opposition groups that had been vetted, as well as provide $250 million for basic services and security in a post-Assad Syria.

The bill also includes new sanctions against those providing arms or oil to Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime.

Menendez’s bill comes as the Obama administration is reconsidering its opposition to providing arms to the Syrian rebels. Administration officials said last week they are reconsidering that step in the wake of evidence that Assad’s forces may have carried out a chemical weapons attack. [Read]

Okay, show of hands. Who wants to adopt a Syrian rebel? Maybe we can get John McCain to star in some Christian Muslim Children’s Fund ads?

Menendez is a typical Washington corruptocrat who thinks American citizens are too incompetent to keep their AR-15s, but is willing to ship them in lots to Muslim rebels no one can possibly predict.

By vet, does Menendez mean the way we vetted Osama bin Laden and his mujahideen buddies in Afghanistan in the 1980s?

Yes, it is a long-denied rumor that CIA trained bin Laden against the Soviets in 1989, but what’s your best guess? In a war to defeat the Russian invasion?

Okay, we have tremendous respect for the CIA, but in the entire history of the Cold War Afghanistan would have to be the first time we did not train locals in any regional conflict against the Chinese or Soviets; Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam, we did it everywhere. So we did train the mujahideen in Afghanistan, and it is a pretty sure bet bin Laden was there.

This is a mistake. The U.S. should not be involved in Syria on any level other than humanitarian. Either Al Qaeda or Hezbollah will have that country if we weigh in against Assad.

Is Assad evil? Absolutely. Should Israel make his freaking life miserable? Yes. But he is the proverbial “devil we know”. If we arm the Syrian rebels, it is a fairly safe bet we will facilitate an al Qaeda or radical Shiite takeover in Syria, much as we have done in Libya.

This has been Mojo’s position on Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, and, yes, Syria all along: The United States of America should not be involved in any war in which we are not prepared to use every weapon in our arsenal to win, before we sacrifice one American life.
